Excerpt “Money Games: 85 Fun Ways to Save Money and Attract Abundance.”By Randy Petrick
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a safe, secure retirement filled with abundant income—enough that you can spend your time concentrating on “makin’ whoopee” and/or having “quickies?” (If those don’t ring a bell for you, ask someone old.)
Having plenty of money for your retirement is a “Whoopee!” event in and of itself. Here’s my quickie lowdown on how and why some folks’ retirements are WRECKs and why other folks seem to enjoy NICE TRIPs. Those who wreck are simply “Wrongly Responding to Everyday Common Knowledge.” Those who have nice trips have “Necessary Information Coming Efficiently to Result in Prosperity!”
Here are my quickie explanations for why folks end up with one result or the other:
Four Reasons People Retire Without Ample Cash (The Wrecks)
1. They never think about prosperity or make conscious decisions to achieve wealth.
2. They procrastinate.
3. They never spend time learning how to obtain, invest, and protect money.
4. They are unable to delay gratification.
Six To-Do Items to Guarantee a Cash-Filled Retirement (For Nice Trips)
1. Decide to be wealthy; set specific, long-range and short-range financial goals, and make detailed monthly, weekly, and even daily plans.
2. Save between 10 and 20 percent (or more) of your income throughout your life.
3. Invest wisely. Spend as much time learning how to invest and protect your money as you do learning to earn it.
4. Get rid of all consumer debt and stay rid of it.
5. Once you begin accumulating money, leave it alone!
6. Stick with your plan. Know that wealth-building is a long-term game plan. Expect to spend ten, twenty, or even thirty years achieving your financial goals.
Action Step
1. Re-read and practice the six “to-do” items above to achieve a secure retirement. Action steps don’t get any more concise than that.
