Balance is very important in everyone’s life. You need to eat a diet that contains items from each food category, and you must maintain a healthy balance between your work and professional life. However, physical balance can be just as important when it comes to maintaining senior citizens health. The most serious injuries to women 60 and over are from falls.
How Physical Balance Is Achieved
Your body maintains equilibrium or balance thanks to 3 types of sensory information.
- The inner ear controls the position of your head
- The eyes control the position of your body by providing visual clues about your environment. Anti eye aging helps maintain balance.
- Sensors in your muscles, skin, tendons & joints control the position of all your body parts
Equilibrium is the ability to control your body and keep it from falling over whenever you move or remain stationary.
Proprioception
This ability of your body to effectively sense the position of each body part is referred to as “proprioception.” This internal sense of where you are allows you to constantly adjust to new surroundings and maintain your physical balance. For example, if you close your eyes and life your arms, you will automatically know which way your hand is turned.
Any movement that requires you to move one leg at a time is greatly affected by proprioception. If you rollerblade, skate, run or even walk, you are constantly losing and regaining your balance. Some individuals will be so fast that they appear to be maintaining their balance throughout the physical activity. In reality, they are adjusting to their environment and regaining their balance so quickly, you don’t even notice they have ever lost it! The same thing happens to you every time you begin walking or hiking in a new area. Although you may stumble at first, your body eventually adjusts to the new terrain. This improves your physical balance and enables you to maneuver more easily. As they age, seniors often become more sedentary. Anti aging care involves maintaining a lifestyle where you are moving. This is important to senior citizens health.
Breathing & Physical Exercises
One of the best ways to improve your physical balance is by performing a regular seniors fitness program that includes breathing exercises. If you spend only a few minutes each day performing spine, eye, knee, stomach, hip or thigh exercises, you will notice an improvement in your ability to balance. This will greatly affect your body aging. Breathing exercises will also help you to improve circulation and posture and reduce any stored tension. Stress aging greatly affects the natural aging process..
If you want to achieve better balance and seniors fitness, make sure to try some physical and breathing exercises every day. This will also help your mental health aging. You will end up with a stronger, healthier body and mind.
