Without hesitation, top travel destinations are worth the time and money to discover them. I’m a travel blogger that has visited Victoria Falls, the Great Barrier Reef, gone on Safari in South Africa and countless other destinations. FoxNews.com selected on of my recommendations for top places to travel in 2011 this past January.

Here’s why I believe you should visit the world’s top travel destinations.

1. Every Traveler has Unique Tastes – Don’t Take Someone else’s word.

You can’t truly make a decision about whether or not a destination is worth visiting until you explore it for yourself. European museums may bore some, while other will marvel at the art inside. Others may appreciate the architecture of the buildings that house the art, while someone may find a great cafe tucked nearby. To make a decision about a destination based on other’s opinions should not be the deciding vote because…

2. You’ll Always be left Wondering, What if?

While I was at Victoria Falls I spent $130 on a 15 minute helicopter trip over the falls. In Sydney, $200 to climb the harbor bridge. Both were worth the investment. Not only were they once-in-a-lifetime experiences, had I not have done them, I always would have wondered, “what-if”. Many top destinations are only visited once in a lifetime, to not fully experience it is akin to visiting the Louvre and not seeing the Mona Lisa. There are reasons why these destinations repeatedly make top 10 lists.

3. Travel Satisfies Our Curiosity

People read travel magazines not because they’re going to actually visit all those places, but because they fantasize about visiting all those places. For the fortunate people who have the opportunity to travel, you must take advantage of every experience. If you return home and friends ask if you saw the Great Wall of China while you were in China and you say no… It gives the appearance that you “wasted” an opportunity so few ever achieve.

4. It’s all about attitude

Sure some activities and places are underwhelming, but it’s not always about the end destination, it’s about the journey getting there. That’s the story you’ll tell over and over again. The Singapore Sling at the Raffles hotel is an overpriced drink. But sometimes you have to ignore the fact that it’s a tourist trap (it’s not even the same bar where the drink was invented), but relish in the fact that you’re in Asia, at a posh hotel, drinking a drink with a reputation around the world. You’ll never have that opportunity again. Sometimes, the purpose of travel is just about being there and that’s true with top travel destinations.

I thought you made good points. There is a reason why a particular place becomes a ‘destination spot.’ I try to travel in off times to avoid heavy crowds and select early morning if I want to visit something that is popular. I have some wonderful memories of both the top and hidden places. They all have a special place in my heart
