Polls conducted with the baby boomers, and the senior new to retirement have consistently shown an interest in senior learning. Whether returning to college or less formal education, keeping mentally alive and challenged by learning new things slows down brain age. While not formal, retirement schooling will help enhance retirement life. Sprouting up at colleges and universities, close to 55 communities around the country, specifically designed for the baby boomer generation, Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes provide learning opportunities, not how to retire, but specifically geared toward the mature learner. OASIS, another learning program expands their retirement best by also providing ways for mature adults to volunteer and get involved in their community.
